About Janet Lincé - Conductor

Jane Lince - conductor - Corona StringsJanet trained at the Guildhall School of Music and began her musical career as a professional singer whilst also working as a repetiteur, accompanist and voice teacher. Latterly she undertook further training and is now much in demand as a conductor and chorus master. Janet has conducted numerous professional and amateur orchestras including The Brandenburg SInfonia, London Concertante, Orchestra da Camera, Orchestra of the Swan, the Warwickshire Symphony Orchestra, Oxford Sinfonia and Beauchamp Sinfonietta. In February 2012 she founded Corona Strings and with this skilled ensemble of professional players she is developing an exciting programme of concerts.

Janet is currently Musical Director of the chamber choir Choros, inaugural conductor of newChoir of Oxford and, with Sarah Tenant-Flowers, Co-Director of Encoro. She has given acclaimed performances in venues such as St Martin-in-the-Fields, St John’s Smith Square, The Sheldonian and Guildford Cathedral. Janet has worked in the USA, Belgium and Germany and has toured New Zealand several times. In 2003 she was engaged for three months as guest conductor for Auckland Choral with whom she performed Handel’s Messiah and settings of the Gloria by Poulenc, Rutter and Vivaldi.

Janet is greatly in demand as a choir trainer and has travelled widely in the UK, working with choirs and giving workshops throughout the country. As a guest Chorus Master with the BBC Symphony Chorus, the Philharmonia Chorus and the London Symphony Chorus Janet has worked for conductors such as Andrew Davis, Roy Goodman, Richard Hickox, Yakov Kreizberg, Kurt Masur and Mikhail Pletnev. Since 2001 Janet has been Chorus Master for the Newbury Spring Festival Chorus, preparing the choir for performances under Paul Daniel, Richard Hickox, John Lubbock, Alexander Lazarev and David Parry.

For six years Janet was a Council member of the Association of British Choral Directors during which time she initiated a new apprenticeship scheme for choral conductors. She continues to work closely with the ABCD in running workshops and furthering the skills of young conductors.
