Corona Strings was formed at the beginning of 2012 to bring the wide repertoire of music for string orchestra to discerning audiences in and around the main hub of Oxford. The orchestra’s name celebrates Queen Elizabeth II in whose honour the first concert was given in February 2012.

Directed by Janet Lincé, Corona Strings is drawn from the fine pool of professional players in Oxfordshire and beyond and has rapidly become a strong, cohesive ensemble. The repertoire ranges from the Romantic ‘greats’ to music of the 20th century as well as exciting contemporary works. Concerts include music from the European tradition as well as repertoire from the Americas and Australasia, and plans are afoot for newly commissioned works. Some concerts feature up-and-coming soloists and established international artists.

The orchestra also offers a period instrument ensemble allowing the players to perform Baroque repertoire in an authentic style.
